SYMOBIO develops the scientific basics for a systemic monitoring and modelling of the German bioeconomy with respect to sustainability aspects, also on an international level. 

The development of the monitoring system goes in line with the goals of the agenda 2030 and is framed by a bioeconomy systems analysis approach. To this end, eight research institutions in Germany collaborate in this project.

SYMOBIO is a research project within the concept “Bioeconomy as Societal Change” of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The results of SYMOBIO 1.0 are published in the pilot report. The follow-up project SYMOBIO 2.0 runs from January 2022 until December 2024.
